Every Cabinet member should hold a monthly town hall

Beto announced that as president he would sign an executive order requiring Cabinet members to hold monthly public town hall meetings with the American people. At a time when people feel less and less represented in the halls of power, this would be a step toward ensuring that leaders remain accountable to the people.

Every Cabinet member, from the Department of Labor to the Department of Health and Human Services, should go before the people in a public town hall to face questions and comments. It is only by listening to those we are sworn to serve -- by gaining the full benefit of their ideas, their experiences, their creativity -- that we can come together to confront and overcome the very real challenges before us.
